Provisional Translation
- Nayriz has recently become the scene of bloodshed.
- The beloved friends of God hastened
- to the scene of martyrdom giving their lives
- in the path of that True Light.
- With sobbing eyes and burning hearts, their cries
- and moans reached the highest chambers of Paradise.
- The Sorrow is intense and lamentation begins again.
- The utmost wish of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
- is to drink a drop from this same cup of loyalty,
- to become inebriated with the wine of sacrifice
- so that the end of life
- becomes the beginning of bounty.
- O Lord!
- Give me to drink from this same overflowing cup
- of Thy utmost generosity and make me to drink
- from this same wine of Thy blessing
- and give me to taste from this same heavenly food
- which none but every repenting servant may taste.
- Adorn my head with the crown of honor.
- Shed my blood on the ground. Crucify my body.
- Make my body disintegrate into dust.
- Make my bones targets of the darts of Thy decree.
- Thou verily art the Most Generous.
- Thou verily art the Most Great.
- Thou verily art the Most Merciful, The Compassionate.
